DINESH - RECLAIMING HOPE AND A NEW BEGINNING
His own son has distanced himself, and at his age, finding work is an arduous task. With no support system to rely on, Dinesh finds himself in a dire situation.
Despite his efforts to make ends meet, life unravelled for Dinesh as advancing years brought forth hopelessness and seclusion. Roaming the streets of Calcutta in search of shelter each night, Dinesh faces not just homelessness but also the heart-wrenching absence of companionship, family, and affection.
Dinesh was left with nothing.
However, thanks to your compassionate support, Dinesh's life has taken a turn for the better.
He now receives consistent monthly provisions, a lifeline that would have otherwise been out of reach. He has found a place where he is recognized, cherished, and looked after. He even engages in creative activities like craft-making and knitting.
Yet, above all else, he has found love.
Countless other elderly individuals awaken to the same sense of despair every morning, their eyes heavy with the weight of hopelessness. Traditional forms of government assistance often fail to reach these very people in need.

URGENT APPEAL: SUPPORT AN OVER-60 NIGHT SHELTER
Can you fathom the thought of your grandmother or grandfather spending their nights outdoors, surrounded by dusty, malodorous, and cacophonous streets?
Exposed to the threats of thieves and substance abusers who would resort to violence, even taking their lives for meager possessions? Amidst the constant drone of insects in their ears and the commotion of the night invading their restless thoughts? With open drains and stagnant water in close proximity? Without access to basic hygiene facilities or a place to cleanse themselves?
Imagine your grandmother enduring such conditions.
Surely, you would be incensed!
Yet, this is the harsh reality faced by the abandoned elderly poor. They lack the means to cook meals, and even if they did, they lack the necessary resources. Each night, they lay down alone, aware that the next day will bring forth challenges as daunting as the ones before.
What they urgently require is a night shelter— a haven for rest. A shelter exclusively dedicated to those aged over 60, ensuring their safety. Establishing and maintaining this shelter requires a mere $23,000 for an entire year, offering elderly individuals the chance to sleep in security and tranquillity.
While providing rations undoubtedly aids the elderly poor in their survival, it is equally crucial to provide them with a clean and secure sleeping environment.
